Museums 2.0

Museums 2.0

Here it is! I’m a little late to post it, but back in November, my first article with Ball Bearings Magazine as a writer was published. “Museums 2.0” follows the development of museums as they try different methods of maintaining visitor interest. Different museums are incorporating various technologies, such as iPads, mobile apps, etc. The David Owsley Museum of Art where I work at Ball State is slowly finding ways to integrate technology, primarily through iPad applications such as The DOMA Project and other art applications specifically for DOMA.

Newfields, formerly known as the Indianapolis Museum of Art, has developed further than others. They now have interactive kiosks, projection mapping, motion-sensing games,  and other interactive activities. In addition, they’ve extended their gallery space to the acres surrounding the museum itself, and utilizes this acreage for special events hosted each year.
