The New Nostalgic
I am proud to present my second article that I wrote for the Ball Bearings Magazine here at Ball State University. The theme of this story pod was modern consumerism, focusing on how the way in which we purchase items has evolved and is constantly changing. The New Nostalgic focuses on three elements:
- vinyl
- thrift store shopping
- home cooking
Originally while writing this article, I was meant to research if there was a “hipster trend” surrounding the increase in vinyl sales, thrift store shopping, and people choosing to cook at home more than fast food. What I found is the following – there was once a hipster trend that could be tied to these, but the hipster trend has dissolved. Vinyl sales have indeed increase since approximately 2005. Thrift store shopping is on the rise, and for a local popular thrift store owner here in Muncie, IN named Jasmin Shopp fromĀ Vintage Shoppe: Thrift & Gift, trends are always cycling in and out of style. Additionally, I interviewed a former Ball State Alumni about her love of home-cooking and why she believed that it is becoming more popular.
Although there was a lot of researching that needed to be done to bring this article together, it was well worth it to see the end product!

I value the blog article. Really Great.
